Sir John Tavener, Song for Athene
@ 2009-03-26 – 22:01:08
The Choir/James Whitbourne, Conductor.
The piece was written in April 1993 by Tavener as a tribute to Athene Hariades, a young half-Greek actress who was a family friend killed in a cycling accident. It was performed in Westminster Abbey at Princess Diana's funeral as her coffin was carried from the Abbey.

The Times They Are A Changin & Do you Believe in Magic
@ 2009-03-26 – 21:39:16
This has got to be the worst intro on the cheesiest show ever made for TV. But then again, maybe not. The Byrds: Showing just how crap things can be when bands listen to their manager and why people claiming TV was better in the past are probably suffering from Alzheimers.

Grace Jones - William's Blood (Aeroplane Remix)
@ 2009-03-17 – 12:31:40
Don't know that the video is about, but I absolutely love this remix. Her voice is perfect and it builds nicely to a smooth climax. I'm playing this at the next party I have.
If your interested, Aeroplane have been making a lot of very cooling remixes recently.

Nick Cave Related Fun
@ 2009-03-13 – 14:22:15
as much as i love his work with the bad seeds, Cave actually did some fairly stunning stuff before that. Also, some dirty three, warren ellis' post punk violin hoedown band. Nuff said.
the birthday party were a damn fine punk band.
really amazing stuff from dirty three. warren ellis drives the bad seeds and this shows how.
and finally, something not everyone has heard. cave covering cohen's suzanne.
enjoy.

John Fahey
@ 2009-03-10 – 18:57:48
Here's John Fahey systematically removing the point of anyone ever learning to play the guitar.
i remember listening to the legend of blind joe death a few years ago and, whilst i never really got the album like a lot of people did, this tune still sands out as a near flawless piece of blues guitar. enjoy!

Tom Waits
@ 2009-03-04 – 01:51:42
Just posted this on my blog and thought you'd all appreciate it. Waits kills me with this song everytime, but coupled with the amazing way he counters the bullshit he receives from the presenters makes this a classic clip well worth watching. enjoy.
