Renaissance were a great band of their time for the initiated. This particular track, the Northern Lights (which was released as a single) is probably their least representative piece - they were more about album tracks - more complex songs with a "story", with a number of different sections and extended instrumentals.
Ocean Gipsy and Ashes Are Burning are probably two stand out tracks for me. Ones which I can also make a reasonable stab at playing on the piano/keyboard!
I saw them live a number of times - in the late 70s and early 80s. They disbanded and then had a number of reincarnations and released a number of newer albums (not as good as their older stuff), one of which I saw live only some 3/4 years or so at the Astoria. If they should reappear they are well worth a look.
One of their early "off-spring" bands was Illusion, who themselves had a couple of albums worth listening to, especially Madonna Blue.
Someone will have to instruct me on how to find tracks off the web and attach them to here! None of my music is on PC, though I must have around 2,000 or so CDs and LPs.

Thanks for your comment. If you find a track on You Tube, there is a little box in grey to the right of the picture. On it are two sets of code, one saying URL and the other embed.
To make a basic link, just copy and paste the URL part. To embed the whole picture into your post, copy the whole of the code from the 'Embed' and insert it into your post. When you save the post, BCUK does the rest.

Blimey, that takes me back! I came to them via Wishbone Ash and they made several interesting albums, that I haven't heard for almost 30 years. Thanks for reminding me of them. They were really quite talented at their folk/rock/classical mixture, more-so than most other groups who attempted that rather difficult mixture.
