I have Jim's album and it includes a lot of very good modern folk songs. This is the only one on Youtube and doesn't reflect his considerable skill as a singer/songwriter. He introduced me to folk music which I have now fully embraced.

Good explanation, thanks.
I used to absolutely detest almost all folk music, but there is a small amount of it I quite like now. It just goes to prove what I've always said: with an open mind, it's possible to appreciate any genre of music. The important thing is the skill of the musicians. Jim is clearly a good singer.
Tom.

I really didn't like that. The vocal melody was uninteresting and the backing unfitting. That is one of my least preferred genres though, so this isn't entirely surprising.
What is it about performance that that you like, Prydwen?
