This record gave me nightmares when I was 4 years old. Very deep, and from 1967:
Keith West and "An Excerpt from a teenage opera" and rather surprisingly, this was a massive hit.

Pro The only classical music in our house was my mum's tapes of "your 100 best classical tunes".
Did you have no radio either then? That song was all over everything like the plague in 1967. IOt really struck a chord with people.

Pro Hi Tom , we had a VHF ( fm ) radio , but I did'nt get my first 'transistor radio' until , about , the early 70's I suppose , kind regards , - Martin .

Pro Gotcha. I think I probably only got my first little radio about then too - 1972 or so. But I had access to the household one before that. I've always loved music, as far back as I can remember. In fact I must ask my mum about that some time.

Pro The full opera actually came out in 1996, almost 30 years later!
It's a very scary song, but also one that is intended as a lesson to children on both death and social responsibility.

I hadn't seen the video before and found the song more poignant actually watching the children singing.

Pro It made me feel reet peculiar listening to that again. And I agree, seeing the children singing adds an extra element to it.
I have no idea what the rest of it sounds like, but I do know that the idea was for each song to represent a different character in a small village.

Pro Ah, classic pop music there. I'm a child of 1963.
That first one, Edison Lighthouse, is particularly interesting because the singer Tony Burrows was on Top Of The Pops three times in the one programme singing with different bands, and it was almost 4. He also sang "Gimme Dat Ding", "My Baby Loves Lovin'", "Beach Baby" and "United We Stand".

Pro I just love that Fun Loving Criminals song, and it seemed like a good match for some of my pictures. In fact, I think I'll post that one here in a while, thanks for reminding me of it. Hard to categorize that song, it's not really rock music, hip hop, trip hop or any definable category.
I have so many clips of my dogs being silly :-)
