XTC was a New Wave band from Swindon, England, active between 1976 and 2005. Though the band enjoyed some significant chart success (including the UK hits "Making Plans For Nigel" (1979) and "Senses Working Overtime" (1982)).

Agreed - far from "obscure". I was only about 10 years old when I got into them a bit - and I was hardly "out there" with my tastes.

When I use the word obscure it is meant in the 'dim' sense that being most of these songs lurk in the dim recesses of our memory. These are songs that I hope you say 'oh yeah I remember that'.

I would never see XTC as obscure music. Andy Partridge was a hero throughout my late teens early twenties and Sergeant Rock was a fab song too. Quirky. English eccentrics. Never obscure.
